Banking
Banking hours are from Monday – Friday 09h00 to 15h00 and Saturday 09h00 to 11h00. Automated Teller Machines (ATM's) can be found in most shopping centres in KwaZulu Natal, and operate on a 24 hour basis.

Credit Cards
Most departmental stores, shops, hotels and restaurants accept international credit cards. i.e. American Express, VISA, Diners Club and Mastercard.

Travellers Cheques
Most International Travellers Cheques are accepted provided they are in acceptable currency and may be cashed at all Banks. Many hotels and shops also provide this service.

Currency
The currency in South Africa is the Rand. Bank notes currently available are R200, R100, R50 and R10. Coins are in denominations of R5, R2, R1, 50c, 20c, 5c, 2c and 1c.There are 100 cents to R1.

VAT/Tax
14% tax is charged on most purchased goods. However, foreign tourists are able to reclaim this money on their departure from the country provided that the goods purchased exceed R250. Ask for more information at the airport upon arrival.

Passport/Visa Requirements
Every person entering South Africa must be in possession of a valid passport and where necessary a visa. Holders of passports of The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland including Jersey, Guernsey and Isle of Man are exempt and do not require visa's. Passports must not be less than 6 months to the date of expiry, and you must have at least one full free page for stamping by officials.This also applies to children's passports.

Medical Care
No NHS (National Health Scheme) exists in South Africa therefore it is essential that visitors obtain sickness and personal injury and also travel insurance cover.Our Company cannot accept any liability if a claim is made and adequate insurance has not been taken out. If you are taking regular medication you should ensure that you take an adequate supply. Before travelling we also strongly advise that you consult your Doctor regarding any inoculations which may be required.

Standard Time
South African standard time is two hours in advance of Greenwich Mean Time.
(GMT +2).
