Historical Game Lodge – Zululand
Situated in the south of the beautiful Pongola Game Reserve in Northern Zululand near the Swaziland border. The game reserve lies on the western side of the majestic Lebombo Mountains and on the shore of Lake Jozini. 180 kms from Richards Bay airport, 355kms from Durban Int. Ariport and 490kms from Jhb Int. Airport.
White Elephant Safari Lodge was originally built in the 1920's, and captures the history and romance of the colonial era. The main lodge consists of an elegantly furnished lounge, deep veranda, traditional boma and sparkling swimming pool with sundeck. Breakfast/brunches are served on the patio, whilst superb dinners are enjoyed in the candlelit dining room.
White Elephant Bush Camp. Decorated with stylish simplicity and Africa's hues. Bush Camp provides a tranquil 'back-to-nature' experience. The lodge consists of an open plan dining room and boma area and plunge pool. Hearty bush meals are served in the shade of knob thorn trees or under moonlit evening skies. Both lodges offer a myriad of bush and water-based activities, sunset cruises, tiger fishing, game drives and walks, bird watching, rhino walks, elephant tracking, scenic aeroplane flights, horse riding, historical archaeological and cultural day trips.
Accommodation – White Elephant Safari Lodge: Offers a truly 'Out of Africa' experience. There are 8 luxurious safari tents, each with ball-and-claw bath, outdoor canvas shower, private veranda, personal bar and tea/coffee making facilities. Insect gauze on windows and door tent-flaps, ceiling fans, mosquito nets and crisp white percale bed linen ensure comfort as well as old world romance. Meals are served at the main lodge, a restored colonial homestead, on the wide verandas, in the dining room, garden or on the wooden deck alongside the swimming pool.
Rates includes. Accommodation, dinner, continental breakfast, brunch (late breakfast) afternoon tea (high tea) daily coffees, teas, juices, cakes, snacks and savouries, and two eco-activities per day – game drive, boat cruise, guided walk, canoeing (no children under the age of 12 yrs), elephanting (no children under the age of 16 years) and rhino walk (no children under the age of 16 years)
