The Oyster Box Hotel is one of the region’s longest established hotels. This grand hotel is set on Umhlanga’s prestigious beach front, with tropical landscaped gardens and direct beach access.
Allow the scent of frangipani and hibiscus to waft over you as you laze in the sparkling pool or relax with a sundowner on the colonial verandah. The hotel is renowned for their sumptuous high-teas served overlooking the Indian Ocean. Freshly picked oysters, served in any number of ways, are a daily speciality not to be missed.
The hotel boasts a cocktail bar and sports bar. The Grill Room Restaurant features local seafood, excellent South African wines and other superb delicacies. There is an all weather tennis court which is available for the sporty enthusiasts.
All rooms and suites are air-conditioned, with private bathroom and satellite TV. Internet facilities are available.
Enhancing the panoramic views of the sea and beaches is our famous Umhlanga Rocks lighthouse which was built in 1954. It is maintained by the hotel staff, who monitor the controls and report to Portnet’s Lighthouse Service.
The hotel is a 2-minute walk from Umhlanga Village Centre, a short drive from 5 excellent golf courses and numerous large shopping malls. Within easy access is Durban, the Midlands and Drakensberg Mountains as well as games parks, lodges and historical battlefields.
