DRAKENSBURG MOUTAINS & MIDLANDS REGION KZN

Drakensberg Mountains with their awe-inspiring basalt cliffs and mountain peaks as high as 3000 metres. Lush yellow wood forests, cascading waterfalls, form a massive reef of natural beauty separating KwaZulu Natal from the Kingdom of Lesotho. This is a playground for hikers, rock-climbers and fishermen. In 2000 the park was recognised as a World Heritage Site.

Midlands are just an hour via the N3 from Durban. The picture postcard terrain of the beautiful lush rolling interior, also known as The Valley of 1000 Hills, set between the Drakensberg Mountains and the coastline. The region is often compared to the Midlands of England, with its well-kept farms, forests, rushing rivers and country towns famous for their hospitality.
